Wing-Dar Ker serves as the President of Shanghai Blue Cloud Technologies Co., Ltd. which is a wholly owned subsidiary of 21Vianet Group, Inc. He and his team collaborate closely with Microsoft Product Group and China S&M team to offer and deliver Microsoft Azure and Office 365 services to commercial and consumer customers in mainland China. Currently, Blue Cloud BU has more than 400 staff that covers IaaS, PaaS and SaaS cloud products operations, infrastructure service, technical and customer service, go to market and compliance/risk management.
Since 2015, Mr. Ker has been introducing world-class global cloud services, applications, and tools into China, infusing new vitality to the Chinese cloud computing market through a “CLIC” (Cloud Landing In China) program. Under Mr. Ker’s leadership, Blue Cloud is very dedicated to establishing and enriching the cloud computing ecosystem and continues to help international companies to land their cloud services in China that require to meet complex government regulations and compliance.
Before he joins 21Vianet, Wing-Dar Ker was the General Manager of Customer Service and Support (CSS) for the Asia Pacific and Greater China (APGC) Region. Responsibilities include overseeing customer service and technical support for customers and partners in the APGC region, as well as web support for The Americas and EMEA regions. While landing global focus, he provided leadership and direction to drive regional strategic initiatives to evolve services delivery and innovation, so as to increase market share and improve customer satisfaction, touch and loyalty. He also manages operations efficiency excellence, budget planning, talent attraction, development and retention, as well as collaboration with local ecosystem. He leads a diverse team of over 900 members of staff, with 14 different nationalities located in 13 different cities across Asia, including 5 major sites in Shanghai (HQ), Taipei, Singapore, Seoul and Sydney.
Mr. Ker started his career with Microsoft as the Finance Controller for the Greater China Region in August of 1993. He managed Finance & Administration (F&A) functions which included Accounting/Finance, Human Resource, Operations/Mfg, IT, and General Affairs. Subsequently, he took on the SMB Director role and was responsible for channels (distributors and resellers) management and the Small and Midsize business segment sales. He accepted Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) Regional IT Director and relocated to Tokyo, Japan in April 2001. In his 3-year tenure as Asia CIO, he managed MS internal IT functions for the APJ region, and oversaw the technology infrastructure of over 45 locations in 14 countries plus 5 R&D Centers, with more than 180 people across Asia in his organization.
Prior to joining Microsoft, he was the Manager and Group Head of the Business Systems Consulting (BSC) group of Andersen Consulting (now known as Accenture) where he ran sales and business development function while gaining extensive experience in the selection and implementation of financial, accounting and operations related management information systems. Mr. Ker started his career in New York City where he served at several private companies for more than five years prior to joining Accenture. He holds a Master Degree of Business Administration (MBA) from the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a Bachelor Degree of Economics from the National Taiwan University.
